Overview

ChargeRescue helps Shopify merchants respond to and prevent payment chargebacks. This policy explains what data it processes, why, and how it is protected.

What we process

When a merchant installs ChargeRescue, we process dispute records and the associated order details needed to build a chargeback response: order number, amount, dispute reason, fulfillment and tracking, address verification results, and policy references. We never access or store full card numbers or payment credentials.

Why we process it

Solely to assess, respond to, and help prevent chargebacks for the merchant whose store the data belongs to. We do not use the data for marketing, resale, or profiling across unrelated merchants, and we never sell it.

How it's protected

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to the app's operator. API credentials are stored as secure environment variables.

Retention and deletion

We keep only the dispute records described above. ChargeRescue implements Shopify's required privacy webhooks and deletes a customer's data on request, and all of a store's data after uninstall. Contact us to request deletion.
